ACSR 9 – Workers Compensation and Employers Liability Insurance Practice Test

The idea being tested is how to extend workers’ compensation protection to employees working in states other than the one where the policy is written. In multi‑state operations, standard workers’ comp coverage is typically tied to the state named in the policy, which can leave out employees in other states. The voluntary compensation and employers liability endorsement is designed to broaden that protection. It allows the insurer to provide workers’ compensation benefits to employees in states other than the policy’s primary state (and includes employers’ liability coverage as part of the package), ensuring all employees are protected regardless of where they work.

The other endorsements serve very different purposes: the longshore and harbor workers' act endorsement covers specific maritime workers; the FELA endorsement covers railroad workers under federal law; and the Jones Act endorsement covers seamen. These are not intended to provide broad, multi‑state workers’ comp protection for a general workforce.
